What is a censer?

Hanging incense burners are also known as church incense burners, incense barrels, or as a Catholic censer. They are hung, placed or carried and swung. For example, a Catholic incense censer is used during services and ceremonies where they are slowly swung back and forth, releasing the enchanting effects of the incense. You can also use these burners to perform your own energy cleanses or purification rituals.

Resin and Granules

This is the traditional incense used in a Censer, used in large spaces such as Catholic churches and temples for centuries. Resin and grains have an intense, strong smell and emit a great deal of smoke. With this incense you can effectively purify and clean rooms by gently swinging your incense hanger back and forth as you walk through the room or house. Well-known church incense mixes include Gloria and Pontifical. You can burn resin and granules on a wood tablet, or put some sand at the bottom of your holder.

Loose herbs

For example white sage or saint wood, are lovely to use for the energy purification of spaces. Burn the loose herbs on charcoal with some sand in the bottom of your censer so that it does not get too hot.

Cones

You can easily burn incense cones in a hanging holder. Just place the cone on the bottom. Be careful not to swing the holder too enthusiastically so the cone does not slip off its axis.

Sticks

If you set the holder down, you can also burn sticks. Place some sand on the bottom, so that the stick stays upright.
