Quan Yin (Guanyin) is the personification of compassion and friendship and can hear the crying of every life being. Quan Yin is also called the goddess of forgiveness (Goddess of Mercy). She is a stomach goddess who protects women, is a patron of the sea, helps those who ask for her help and hears every prayer. Quan Yin is often depicted holding a twig from the weeping willow, known for its dragging branches of leaf that hang down to the ground and along which the raindrops drip like tears. Quan Yin is said to represent the same energy as Mary and Tara.
