Facial yoga is becoming more and more popular. What exactly is it and how do you do it yourself? We teach you that here!

As you may know, yoga is good for your body, mind, and soul. What you may not have known is that it is also good for your face! As you get older, you may see the first wrinkles appear. Nothing wrong with that, of course, because it gives your face character! Still, many people benefit from facial yoga. They use it as a natural remedy to prevent more wrinkles, for example!

What is Facial Yoga?

Did you know that facial yoga has been around for hundreds of years? The first facial routine was published in 1710. It is not entirely clear where it originated. The definition of facial yoga is also very broad. Some say Cleopatra already practiced facial yoga! Anyway, you could say that any form of facial exercises falls under facial yoga. They are mainly small exercises that use different muscles in your face.

Facial Yoga and Self Love

This is of course also possible with ‘normal’ yoga or Meditation, but if you find that difficult, simple facial exercises are a nice alternative! For example, make doing facial yoga a habit in the bath, after a shower, or just before going to sleep. According to holistic therapists, it works because you stimulate the skin from within. Growth occurs in cells. And because of the deep relaxation you achieve with facial yoga, your body gets the space and energy to get the cell metabolism going. This kind of resets the whole body. Time for some self-love, then!

Where and How Often Can You do Facial Yoga Exercises?

You can perform facial yoga exercises wherever and whenever you want! Whether you’re sitting on the couch at home, on the bus to work or taking a break at the office: a short exercise is so easy! All you need is your face and your fingertips to perform the exercises properly. Make sure you are in a quiet place where you can perform the exercises in a relaxed manner. To see results as quickly as possible, we recommend doing facial yoga about three to five times a week. How long you do this is up to you, but 15 to 20 minutes could do a lot!

Facial Yoga Against Wrinkles

Did you know that your face has more than fifty different muscles? You use the muscles in the rest of your body regularly, but the deep muscles in your face much less. With facial yoga you can stimulate blood circulation in your face. This improves the oxygen supply in the muscles and skin and you get that healthy glow back in your face! The facial exercises also contribute to good blood circulation in the skin, so that the skin cells in your face get enough nutrients. This in turn helps to renew skin cells and prevent wrinkles!

Facial Yoga Puffiness and Bags Under Eyes

Do you want to prevent puffiness? Then place your thumb, index, and middle fingers on the skin under your eyes. Squeeze your eyes tightly and gently pull the skin down.

Facial Yoga Double Chin

Do you want to reduce a double chin? Then stick your neck slightly forward. Meanwhile, raise your chin slightly and make a firm smile. Hold this exercise for a few inhalations and exhalations.

Facial Yoga Drooping Eyelids

To reduce droopy lids, pull your lids out and up slightly with your fingertips. Meanwhile, lower your eyebrows by looking angry. Try to hold this for about ten seconds. You can repeat this exercise five times.

Facial Yoga Eyes

Press two fingers on both temples and close your eyelids in a blinking motion for 8 to 10 seconds. Rest for a while and repeat five times.

Facial Yoga Against Wrinkles

To train and tighten your entire face, close your eyes and tighten all the muscles in your face. You open your eyes wide and stick your tongue out as far as you can. Meanwhile, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. We are curious about your facial yoga experiences!
