Essential Oil or Extract?

Fragrance oil is sold under many different names. How do you know whether you are dealing with extracts or essential oils and is there actually a difference? Essential Oil means oil that evaporates when it comes into contact with air. These bottles contain concentrated plant liquid without additives. In addition to pure essences, essential oil often also contains (synthetic) fragrances or enhancers such as alcohol. According to aromatherapists, plant extracts can be absorbed better by your body than oils, while synthetic bottles only give off odors or mask less pleasant ones. So it depends on what exactly you want from your perfume!

This is the Right Fragrance for You

There are plenty of nice scents, but not every aroma suits you or the space you want to treat. According to Aromatherapy, scents evoke feelings. So take a look at the variations below and choose a scent that represents exactly the right mood for you!

These popular fragrances are known for:

  • Vanilla: cozy and safe
  • Lavender: calming and relaxing
  • Rose: romantic and warm
  • Cedar: grounding and warming
  • Pine: refreshing and air purifying
  • Eucalyptus: concentration-enhancing and antibacterial
  • Peppermint: uplifting and enlightening
  • Orange: optimistic and vitalizing
  • Ylang Ylang: stimulating and sensual

How Does an Oil Burner Work?

An oil burner contains a tea light with a tray or holder above it at some distance. This way the perfume does not come into direct contact with the heat source. The tray is also filled with a mix of water and a few drops of fragrance oil. The burner then ensures that the aroma slowly evaporates together with the water. The mist that is created spreads evenly and is also safe to inhale.

How to Use Fragrance Oil in a Burner

These steps show you how to vaporize your favorite aroma in no time:

  1. Place the burner on a fireproof surface, out of reach for children and pets.
  2. Set a jug of water next to your oil burner.
  3. Place a tea light in the holder.
  4. Fill the container with water to just below the rim.
  5. Add 3-5 drops of oil.
  6. Light the tea light.
  7. Wait for the water to evaporate.
  8. Enjoy the scent!
  9. Refill from the jug when the burner is almost boiling dry or blow out the tea light.
  10. Clean the tray regularly to remove oil residues.

Aroma Diffuser with Fragrance Oil

How do you use fragrance oil when you don’t want to keep an eye on a candle? In an Aroma Diffuser of course! Diffusers atomize water and oil by means of ultrasonic vibrations. These diffusers therefore work without heating. In addition, they usually turn off on their own as soon as the water runs out. All you need to have available is a bit of electricity!

How to Vaporize Cold

You can also enjoy fragrance oil by using the heat and airflow present in your home. How? With a scented stone, for example, on which you put a few drops. Place it in a sunny windowsill or near the heater on cold days and the scents will come to you automatically! You can also make fragrance sticks or fragrance bags with your favorite bottles. Give them an airy spot in the house where their aroma can be released properly.
