Mala/bracelet with beads of amazonite, with lotus. Strung on an elastic band.
A mala is originally a prayer chain from Hinduism and Buddhism and is used in meditation to count mantras. A mantra is a collection of words, often from Sanskrit, that is repeated several times – traditionally 108 times. You focus your attention on the meaning and vibration of the words, possibly combined with the accompanying visualization. By training yourself in a meditation exercise like this, your thoughts come to rest and your body relaxes. Nowadays, a mala is also worn as a fashion accessory.
The lotus flower is often seen and used in Hinduism and Buddhism. In these cultures, it is a sacred flower that symbolises purity, your beauty, inner growth and connection with the universe.
The lotus flower has a symbolic meaning for the ‘growth to enlightenment’, which mainly comes from the growth process of the flower. The lotus flower nestles under water in the mud. Subsequently, the flower grows very vigorously towards the light, after which we can see a beautiful flower on the water.
As human beings, we can experience the same process. The mud symbolises ignorance and suffering, but as you grow you become wiser. Once enlightenment is achieved, you shine just like that beautiful lotus flower.
Note: this is a natural product so the stones may contain impurities.
