Dreamcatcher – Bali
Bali is an island of Indonesia with more than 3 million inhabitants. Dance and music are very important in daily life, but the Balinese are also very spiritual. Throughout the years, Bali has continued to develop and its economy is going in the right direction.
Artisans
The producer has been in business since 1994. They only work with local products. Of the employees, 95% are women. The employees are given the opportunity for continuous development through training.
How is it made?
First, a ring is made of wood, which is then wrapped in thick yarn. This is done until the ring is no longer visible. Then the web is made. With cotton thread, loops are made. When the ring is completely filled, they work further inwards. Finally, the dreamcatcher is decorated with feathers, shells and/or stones. The materials used come from local suppliers.
Fairtrade
The producer finds it important to work as transparent as possible and tries to avoid the waste of chemicals as much as possible. In this way, they try to make their contribution to the environment. The space in which they work is also very clean, as it is used as a school. Women get a fair chance to earn extra money. Often they are not educated and therefore get a chance. This offers stability.
