The gemstone beads used are: amethyst, lapis lazuli, sodalite, green aventurine, calcite, red carnelian and red jasper.
Rudraksha means ‘tears of Rudra (Lord Shiva)’; they are the most holy products with mystical power. For thousands of years, people have used Rudraksha for spiritual, materialistic and medicinal purposes. It is believed that the one who wears Rudraksha is untouchable and is protected against all kinds of negative influences. Allegedly, the natural electromagnetic energy of the holy Rudraksha increases the concentration and mental qualities. In the Ayurvedic scriptures, it is written that Rudraksha has a positive effect on people’s health. The effects of the performed rituals and mantra reciting are ten times more powerful in combination with Rudraksha.
The bead necklace is mainly used to count mantras that are recited. Thus, it actually has the same function as a rosary (catholic rosary). Beads made of (half) gemstones, pearls, bodhi seeds or wood are suitable for many purposes: counting all kinds of mantras or other prayers, bowing down, walkabouts and such. The cord is the same for all mala’s; it should consist of nine threads that symbolise the Buddha Vajradhara and the eight bodhisattvas. The large bead at the end represents the wisdom that realises the utter emptiness, and the cylindrical bead is the emptiness itself. Together they symbolise that all opponents have been defeated.
The mala with 108 beads is used for reciting or singing mantras. The number 108 is the ideal number for all purposes. It is important that our thoughts are pure while reciting or singing the mantra. Mantra is the practical use of secret powers that help us move forward. Mantra is a collection of letters from the alphabet. The effect is achieved by repeating the mantra; this becomes deeper the longer one recites. The sounds that are produced during recitation are essential. This sound produces and creates a unique spiritual impression in the person reciting. It is said that a mantra is like a human being; one has to go through different stages before the real effect is achieved: ‘purification of mental impressions’. There are several mantras that contain their potential power in themselves; these mantras can only be transferred from Master to Adept. These are the so-called ‘Siddha Mantras’.
Please note: Rudraksha is a natural material; naturally, the colour of the mala may differ.
