This cheerful keychain is also called “nazar boncuğu”. A nazar is an amulet in the shape of an eye, which, according to Turkish popular belief, would protect against the evil eye. The small variants are worn as jewellery and the large ones are hung visibly on the wall (preferring the door opposite an entrance or a door), to serve as a clear antidote to “evil”.
