Green Tara (Chittamani Tara) is a female manifestation of enlightened energy; she is very popular in Tibetan Buddhism. There are 21 manifestations of Tara, and the most important two are White Tara and Green Tara. Characteristic of her appearance are the seven eyes in the head, palms of the hands and soles of the feet, and she sits in a full lotus position.

In her right hand, she holds the stem of a blue lotus. The 21 verses of Green Tara are recited monthly in all Buddhist spiritual communities to resolve obstacles. Reciting the mantra of Green Tara neutralizes inner outer and secret fears. The mantra reads: Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaham (pronounced Soham).
