Monoi de Tahiti is a special cosmetic oil obtained by soaking the Tiara flower (Gardenia Tahitensis) in purified coconut oil. Coconuts from the ‘Cocos Nucifera’ tree, a variety that grows on the coral soil in French Polynesia, and the buds of the Tiara flower must also come from here. Coconuts used in Monoi products are harvested when ripe. After harvesting, these ripe coconuts are cleaved, and the coconut meat is removed within 48 hours. This is then left to dry for at least a week, after which it is ground to a minimum. The crude coconut oil is then pressed using a unique hot pressing method. Monoï de Tahiti’ is obtained by soaking ten Tiara flowers per litre of purified coconut oil for at least ten days.
