Dreamcatcher – Bali
Bali is an island of Indonesia and has more than 3 million inhabitants. Dance and music are very important in daily life, but the Balinese are also very spiritual. Over the years, Bali continues to develop and the economy is also moving in the right direction.
Artisan
The producer has been working since 1994. Only local products are used. 95% of the employees are women. Employees are given the opportunity to continuously develop themselves through training.
How is it Made?
First, a ring is made of wood, which is then wrapped with thick yarn. This is done until the ring is no longer visible. Then the web is created. Loops are made with cotton thread. When the ring is completely filled, they work further inwards. Finally, the dreamcatcher is decorated with feathers, shells and or stones. The materials used come from local suppliers.
Fair Trade
The producer considers it important to work as transparently as possible and tries to avoid the waste of chemicals as much as possible. With this they try to make their contribution to the environment. The space in which they work is also very clean, as it is used as a school. Women are given a fair chance so that they can earn extra money. Often they are not educated and because of this they do get a chance. This provides stability and makes them stronger.
