A beautiful metal Tumi key ring. The pendant measures approximately 5 x 2.5 cm and weighs 10 grams.
The Tumi is one of the most iconic images from Peru. In the ancient Quechua language, Tumi means knife and that is why they were used in the past. On the underside of a real Tumi is the sharp or axe-shaped part of the knife. The top is almost always decorated with the same figure. This is the god Naylamp of the ancient Lambayeque culture who lived more than a thousand years ago in what is now approximately northern Peru. Nowadays, this effigy is used as a decoration in the home and is said to bring good luck.
