The Al Najjar family has been making authentic Aleppo soap with traditional craftsmanship since 1895. The know-how is passed on from generation to generation in the Al Najjar family soap factory in the city of Aleppo in northern Syria. Every year from the end of November to the end of March, the production of the world’s first hard soap is repeated with the same, unchanged process. The soaps then dry for at least nine months.
Najel Aleppo soap is made exclusively from olive oil and bay laurel oil, two selected oils that have many virtues. Olive Oil soap is a powerful cleanser that nourishes, protects and softens the skin. Bay laurel oil is known for its disinfectant and regenerative properties.
Made from traditional 200g Aleppo soaps with 5% bay laurel oil, Najel Aleppo black soap with organic vegetable charcoal combines the properties of Aleppo soap with those of charcoal. For thousands of years, charcoal powder has been used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine to detoxify and purify the body. Today, the use of charcoal is becoming increasingly popular in cosmetics. The organic vegetable charcoal used in Najel’s Aleppo soap is derived from Indian gooseberries, commonly called Amla. Amla is the fruit of the Indian gooseberry tree, which, as the name suggests, is grown in India as well as Nepal and Sri Lanka.
