Tingshas (ding-shas) are hand-cimbals and originally come from Tibet. In Tibetan, the word tingsha means ‘hanging cymbal’. They are traditionally used as musical accompaniment to spiritual actions. Think for example of services and prayer rituals, or meditation. Especially in Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism you can find tingshas. Tingshas are also used for harmonising and cleaning energy, for example in Feng Shui or energetic medicine. Composition The cymbals of the tingsha are made of different metals, a so-called alloy. The most common alloy is bronze: a combination of copper, tin and small amounts of nickel. Each disc of this tingsha is cast separately and then voted by hand. Storage This tingsha is best kept in a dedicated pouch. It is made of brocade and has two compartments. You can also wrap it in a cloth or scarf.
