Hemp is an ecological miracle plant. The plant grows very quickly and within a few months forms a closed canopy of 1 to 4 metres high. This means that no herbicides are needed against weeds and, because the plant is naturally strong, no pesticides either. The plant is often used to improve soil quality as a rotational crop. In addition, the plant requires little irrigation and its large root network allows it to supply nutrients and water deep into the ground. The strong fibers of the plant have been used for thousands of years for clothing and tools (e.g. rope). The fibers are up to 10 times stronger than cotton fibers, but also somewhat stiffer and less soft. Hemp fibers do become softer with use or by mixing with organic cotton. At the end of their life, products made from hemp can be returned to nature by composting.

So in the end you borrow a little from nature and give it back at the end.
