Fatty root – khus, kuskus (Vertiveria zizianoides, grass from tropical Asia; mainly its aromatic roots). Element of earth – centre of gravity body. Since time immemorial it has been loved for its fine fragrance. The smell of the earth that renews itself’. Acts as a ‘spiritual incense’, detoxifying according to the Ayurvedic tradition. Sharpened the realism, grounding, creating structure, aphrodisiac, gives ‘body consciousness’. Works well with Sandalwood, Opoponax and Benzoë. It increases body awareness during a meditative incense session. Suitable for burning on charcoal and on the special sieve-smoke burners that are sold separately. The combustion process on these sieve burners is somewhat slower than on charcoal. You can easily mix the incense with other varieties if you take a larger sieve burner. Also available are a matching pair of pliers to safely light the charcoal, a pliers to tackle the sieve, a steel brush to clean the sieve and a pheasant feather to spread the scent. A separate sieve of 125 mm incense fits perfectly on an oil evaporator when the receptacle is removed.
