Father Pio (1887-1968) was a popular Italian saint. He received the so-called stigmata. Not one saint of the modern age has written as many reports as Pio on miraculous phenomena. The Catholic Church commemorates him on 23 September. Father Pio was born Francesco Forgione on 25 May 1887 in Pietrelcina in the Archdiocese of Benevento (southern Italy). At the age of 16 he entered the order of Capuchins in Morcone. There he was given the monastery name Pio (Latin: Pius). Father Pio received the so-called stigmata, the five open wounds of the crucified Jesus. “,https://spiru.nl”
