This cheerful dreamcatcher is also called “nazar boncuğu”. A nazar is an object in the shape of an eye, which, according to Turkish folk tradition, is said to protect against the evil eye. The small versions are worn as jewellery and the large ones are hung on the wall (preferably opposite an entrance or a door), to serve as a clear antidote to the “evil”.
Native Americans believe that the room is filled with both good and bad dreams. It is believed that when you leave the dreamcatcher swinging freely above or near your bed, the dreams are captured. The good dreams know how to slip through the outer holes of the dream catcher and along the soft feathers. The bad dreams don’t know the way, get caught in the dreamcatcher and disappear with the first light of a new day.
Material: hemp with coloured wooden beads and coloured feathers.
