This particular star looks like a three-dimensional Pentagram, but what kind of symbol is the Merkaba? Here you can read about the background of this special sign and discover common spiritual Merkaba practices.

What is a Merkaba?

A Merkaba is a geometric shape that consists of two three-dimensional triangles or tetrahedron that are half intertwined. This creates a star like shape, in which one pyramid ‘hangs’ upside down in the other. This symbol was probably already known to the Ancient Egyptians and our name for the shape comes from Egyptian. In various schools of mysticism such as Sacred Geometry, Merkabas are tools for energy work and healing. The Egyptian word for it consists of three syllables

  • Mer – light or divine source
  • Ka – mind or consciousness
  • Ba – soul or body

So in essence the Merkaba meaning is connection of the divine light with consciousness in an animate body. Who would not want that?

Merkaba Symbol Meaning

There are many different interpretations of this ancient symbol. For many people the Merkaba has meaning as a representation of love and harmony. The two pyramids would stand for male and female energy that are united in each other. Other people believe that the Merkaba is part of the aura, the personal energy field. For example, this star shape would protect people and allow them to travel to other dimensions or times. In general, this magical sign is said to be able to expand human consciousness and energetically cleanse the physical body.

Merkaba Techniques to Try

Special exercises are possible to ‘wake up’ and attune the energy of this symbolic star within yourself. If you want to activate your inner Merkaba, according to experts, you can do that in different ways. There are multiple Merkaba techniques for experienced healers, as well as exercises for beginners. For example, you can

  • Meditating on a Merkaba Symbol
  • Merkaba Chakra Exercises

  • Involving Guardian Angels

Merkaba Meditation

To activate Merkaba energy during a meditation you can visualize the symbol or hold a physical star, for example one made of Orgonite or crystal. This way you could feel the vibration of the geometric sign and anchor it in your own body. That seems to be quite heavy, hence the many trainings and courses to learn to work with this symbol.

Chakra Exercises

According to many people, the sacred star connects to important nodes in the aura, the Chakras. Its shape could balance these seven centers by providing them with healing power. For example, people visualize the star in combination with the Chakra Colors, but there are also other ways to give the Aura attention with this symbol. For example, you could try incorporating it into your Reiki Practice.

Mandala Drawing

Merkabas are expressions of balance and cosmic knowledge, so you could also draw a Mandala with them. By drawing the lines yourself, you would also intuitively understand the symbol. How do you draw a Sacred Geometry Merkaba? You can find all kinds of tips for that on the internet! Even if it takes some practice, it’s worth it because the more you interact with the star, the better you come to understand its meaning.

Working with Guardian Angels

For many people, Sacred Geometry symbols create a connection with Ascended Masters, spiritual guides who would aid people in their development. Guardian Angels, Archangels, gods and other enlightened souls would share their insights and powers through symbols such as the Merkaba. According to Christian tradition, the guardian angel who answers to this star is Saint Melchizedek.
